University Val-Benoît was built in 1920 over the former Val-Benoît monastery and housed learning facilities for the “Institut de Mechanique” and “Chemistry-Metallurgy Institute”. This university was abandoned since 2006 where students moved to a new university. The site being renovated and will serve as an architectural monument to the city.
